Combating district heating bottlenecks using load control

نویسندگان

چکیده

The 4th generation of district heating systems face a potential problem where lowered water temperatures lead to higher flow rates, which requires hydraulic capacity in terms pipe and pump sizes. This increases the effect already existing issue bottlenecks, causing peripheral units (customers) experience reduced rates. A coordinating control strategy is presented this work aimed at reducing such bottlenecks on comfort customers. done by distributing deficit over many rather than few. Previous works mainly focus MPC-structured controllers that depend complex system models online optimization techniques. proposes method little information about for individual minimal IT communication between systems. proposed compared with traditional an optimal baseline simulation study. shows can decrease worst case indoor temperature deviations.

Operational thermal load forecasting in district heating networks using machine learning and expert advice

Forecasting thermal load is a key component for the majority of optimization solutions for controlling district heating and cooling systems. Recent studies have analysed the results of a number of data-driven methods applied to thermal load forecasting, this paper presents the results of combining a collection of these individual methods in an expert system. The expert system will combine multi...

Optimization and Control of a District Heating Network

The short term optimization and control of a district heating network is a crucial point for Energy Industries. In this article, a model, well suited to industrial issues is presented and then used to determine the optimal schedule of the network. As consumers demands are imperfectly predicted, it is necessary to have a closed loop strategy to robustly control the network. The control law is ba...

Distributed Load Balancing of District Heating Systems - A Small-Scale Experiment

We present results from an experiment where the effects of automatic flow control at a single substation is compared to automatic cooperative concurrent flow control at multiple substations. The latter approach is made possible by equipping individual substations with some computing power and integrating them into a communications network. Software agents, whose purpose is to cooperate with oth...
